Lorenzo's a calm sort of fellow, he doesn't get easily riled up over insults and he's not very excitable. He takes good and bad in stride and just keeps going forward, because going back is impossible. He prefers to observe a situation and make a plan rather than rushing into things and playing it by ear. Once he's decided on something though, that is absolutely what he is going to make happen and he will do it come hell or high water. He'd prefer to have people on his side on an issue, but if he doesn't it's a minor inconvenience rather than any sort of deterrent. He has faith that he's thought whatever issue it is through enough to have made the best possible decision. He tries to see all sides of the issue before making that decision, but often his own personal biases get in the way. He's a big believer in justice, he hates to see people get away with stepping on others. He also has a tendency to try to be everyone's big brother, regardless of who's actually older. It can be a bit annoying at times, but he's only trying to help and maybe sometimes keep the peace. He's a good listener and secret-keeper for anyone that needs a shoulder to cry on or an ear to gripe to.

Amara Lafayette always wanted to be a father. Other little boys wanted to be Jedi or dinosaurs and while Amara wanted to be those too, it always came with the inclusion of little ones running around him. When one fateful doctor's visit in college told him he'd never be able to have children, he still took it in stride. Okay, so he'd never be able to have a biological child, he could adopt. However, he found his calling in working at a preschool, a job that didn't quite pay enough for him to afford adopting a child. Still, his innate touch with children attracted the attention of one certain titan, Rhea, who was endeared to how much he loved children and how loudly he yearned for one of his own. She came to him one night with promises of a child, he laughed but took her up on it hoping for some sort of connection. She was gone the next day, but she left behind something special, a little boy. He never did quite understand how the little boy looked so much like him, but it didn't matter. He finally had a son, Lorenzo. They lived quite happily, just the two of them, for years, until Lorenzo was eight. That's when he met Amelia and her son, James. For four years their families lived together as one. Amelia and Amara never got married, after all, it was a waste of money, they would have had to spend all that money on a wedding to make their families happy. They loved each other, they were true too each other, did it really matter what a stupid piece of paper said?

It turns out yes, yes it did. For legal reasons. One too many drinks and an unwillingness to get a cab led to fourteen-year-old Lorenzo and ten-year-old James becoming wards of the state. When Lorenzo was told that since he and James weren't technically brothers there wasn't much the system could do to keep them together, he did what any rational fourteen-year-old would do when faced with losing the last of his family members. He took James and hightailed it out of there and onto the streets. 

For a while, things were okay. Or as okay as they could be on the streets. They took up with a low profile gang called the Dewitt Boys, and Lore used his calming ability to help pull of heists and other cons. After all, it was totally okay he and his friends were there, wasn't it? No need to do anything. Life wasn't peaches and roses, but he and James were together and as far as his fourteen-year-old brain was concerned they'd be young forever and in good health and everything would be overall dandy.

Roughly a year later, though, James got sick, and not your common cold variety. Lorenzo had no real option but to take him to the hospital, and it was there that a nurse convinced him that the best option for James was not to be on the streets but in foster care, where he would get an education and rest and always have enough to eat. Lorenzo reluctantly agreed, and the authorities took both of them in. As he feared, he and James became separated in the system, but at least he could be fairly sure James was okay. He was shifted around from foster home to foster home with nothing really exciting or dramatic happening for a couple years, but when he was 17 and using his powers to defuse a lunch room altercation when a satyr posing as a lunch lady took him aside and told him about camp. Intrigued, he followed the satyr to the Roman/Greek combined base and has stayed there ever since with nothing to encourage him to go home. 

POWERS & ABILITIES

Calming: Lorenzo has the ability to make people feel calm around him. No, really, it's okay that he's here even though he's not one of the workers or anything, just relax. He uses his gift of comfort for both good and evil. Some homies are about to come to blows? He's there to help direct them towards civil discourse. Someone unsure if they want to tell him their darkest secrets? No, don't stress, you can trust Lorenzo, Lorenzo is here for you. He used this mostly to avoid fights and to pull of heists. Of course, he has to calm himself before he can calm other people. If he's nervous/giddy/excited/etc. it won't work. And if anyone knows what he's doing they can certainly try and fight it off. The longest he can hold the calm and comforting effect is an hour if he really concentrates, and it takes a physical toll out of him.
